Stellar Cast Assembles for Sci-Fi Romance "Beatrice" Co-Production
In an exciting development announced on May 7, 2026, the upcoming film "Beatrice" has officially confirmed its stellar cast, drawing talent from across Europe. Golden Globe nominee Alma Pöysti, celebrated for her role in Aki Kaurismäki's "Fallen Leaves," will star alongside Italian actress Valentina Bellè, known for her work in "Ferrari" and "Catch-22," and Estonian actor Priit Võigemast, from the Oscar-shortlisted film "Truth and Justice." The film, an Estonian-Lithuanian-Italian co-production, is being helmed by director Vallo Toomla. Its narrative centers on a woman who, following a fatal car accident, mysteriously returns to her family in a different body, raising poignant questions about recognition, personal transformation, and the essence of human connection. The project sees Stellar Film, led by Evelin Penttilä and Johanna Maria Tamm, joining forces with Apollo Film Productions, with Dagnė Vildžiūnaitė from Lithuania and Giovanni Pompili from Italy also on board as producers. Director Vallo Toomla co-wrote the script with Małgorzata Piłacińska, adapting the powerful play by Estonian playwright Siret Campbell.

It challenges us to consider what truly constitutes a person—is it their memories, their spirit, or merely their physical presence? The international collaboration behind "Beatrice" reflects a growing trend in filmmaking, bringing together diverse perspectives and talents to craft universally resonant stories.
